Autumn Bride

I love Autumn. The colors are so gorgeous!
This is my Autumn Bride, created with the "Madison the Bride" image by Digital Delights.
Madison the Bride

Right now you can get great sale prices on an order of only $10!

I am on the Design Team at DD, and it's so much fun. The images are absolutely adorable, and Wendy is a wonderful person to work with. I love her.

I used my Prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits to color this image. The card, a 6x6, is made with CTMH cardstock from my stash. I inked the edges with Tim Holtz' Distress Ink by Ranger. The Martha Stewart punched frame is also from my stash. The colorful floral paper is by Colorbox. I used Gems from the Paper Studio, and ribbon from good ol' Walmart.

The stenciled stars are done with an old free stencil from a Martha Stewart Living magazine. I used chalks and then glammed them up with Stickles. the stitches are hand-drawn.

The sentiment was done with the same stencil from MSL. I simply traced the stencil, chalked it and cut around it and the words. The sentiment itself is from Digital Delights' Dream Sentiments Set.

If I Only Had...More Friends Like You!

Love this little guy from Digital Delights! DD is the sponsor, and he is my choice for my TTDT card for this oh, so interesting challenge being offered at Tuesday Throwdown:
color crazy
Using colors you wouldn't ordinarily use.

Although I love Autumn, and the colors that go with it, surprisingly, this card turned out to be one of my faves! From the red and blue clouds, to the playful shadows, the Prismacolor Markers really made him look so creamy and sweet...and I totally love his white face.

I used some "vintage" CTMH paper from my stash. This was from a western themed kit. The front of the card is trimmed on the right side, so the border pieces show from the inside...make sense? Look at this pic...

I used a punch to make the edge, and inside the card, it says, "more friends like you." Cute play on words from the Wizard of Oz song...sentiment is from a set I made for H and M Stamps, now no longer around. The cloud stencil is CTMH, I use it A LOT. I made the oval with my Coluzzle. The ribbon is from my trip to the Offray Ribbon outlet many years ago, and the gems are from Michaels.

All in all, this card was simple. The play on colors was a super fun challenge. The card simply came together quicker than most for me.

Vacation Day Two

Ahh...another glorious day. I will drop George off to play golf, and I will visit the craft stores!

Last night over dinner at Adirondack Seafood, we had a great discussion. It was:

Time to reminisce...as we enjoyed revisiting the places where we made memories...

I am using some of my "vintage cards" from 2008 to illustrate our discussion.

This one was made with one of my own stamp sets I created for H&M Stamps (no longer around).

We have seen so many rolling cornfields here.

I once lived across the street from a cornfield.

Time to reflect...where have we come from, what mistakes have we made, and were they really mistakes? Doesn't everything happens for a reason?

Time to regroup...What do we really want to do in the next year? Maybe we will revisit yearly.

The following card was made using a folding technique by Anna Griffin, and stamps by SeeD's, and the lace stamp by Crafty Secrets.

What is really important?

This card was created using Crafty Secrets' Kitchen Kids set.
The background was random stamped with a few of the smaller images. I used some CTMH alphabet stamps to make the sentiment. Paper by CTMH.

We decided we need to relax more, and really LIVE...not just work, work, work...life flies by!

A card I made for a challenge on SCS. a gorgeous stamp by Stampin' Up!, papers by CTMH and my stash (sorry, can't remember where the flowered paper came from.) The sentiment is by H&M Stamps. Ribbon is Offray from their outlet...long ago.

Yes, we all need to:
Reminisce
Reflect
Regroup
Relax
and REALLY LIVE!

The real reason for vacation is...
I'll talk about that later.

Have a wonderfully relaxing day, do some reflecting!

Upstate Revisited

Vacation Week...
Revisiting places I drew inspiration from...years ago. These are some of my images...
Chestertown, NY
Wildflowers in a field near downtown...

Beautiful old house, now an office, decorated in a
Vintage Victorian style inside...

I am on my way today, to visit Cambridge, where an old hotel was the subject of Hotel Hell on Fox TV.
George stayed there years ago, and we want to see it, even though it is now closed...too bad.

I'll check back later, and let you know what we discovered.

Digital Delights Lookin' Good!

Remember that song from 1966 by Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs?

Little Red Riding Hood
You sure are looking good
You're everything a Big Bad Wolf could want.

Well, here she is!

Digital Delights is the place to be! (I think that's where Red is headed.) Not only is there a blow-out sale going on, they are also holding a Paper Piecing DT call!

I am a member of the DD DT, and have so much fun with these adorable characters. the sentiment is so fitting for someone headed out on an adventure, be it to college, vacation or a move.

I used Little Red Riding Hood by Digital Delights,
Red Riding Hood

and the Dream Sentiment Set. And this is on sale!

I made a stencil with Tattered Florals Die by Tim Holtz and used chalks and Stickles in the background.
The paper is by Colorbox and CTMH. I also used a Sizzix embossing folder to make the black and pink post card piece. the paper for this is Coredinations. Gems by The Paper Studio.

Red is colored with Prismacolor Pencils and mineral spirits. Stickles keep her "looking good".

To make the sentiment pop, I scribbled a flower and cut around it.
Stickles and Prismacolor Pencils finish it off.

I am entering this card in these challenges:
Craft Punked - Flower Power
Fairy Tale Challenge - Song Inspiration
Totally Paper Crafts - Inspired by a Song

Coffee Break and a Challenge

LEJ Designs is having a Vintage Challenge! My fave...be sure to enter. The prize is 3 LEJ Designs images!

This card is a reminder to take a little time for yourself. The adorable image is by  LEJ Designs, of which I am  a DT member. Lindsay draws such delicate and unique images, so take a peek at her work, and pick up a digi or two!

I have combined her coffee mill, which is definitely a vintage image, with a couple of stamps from a Crafty Secrets set called, Kitchen Kids. I think all the images work together on this card.

The newsprint is from a trip to Epcot, United Kingdom. We had Fish and Chips there, so I naturally confiscated the paper wrapper from my basket. I have used it twice already!

The ribbon is CTMH, and the spoon is embossed with gold from JoAnn's. the gold eyelets are SU! and the sentiment is from a company no longer in business, which I designed a few sets of stamps for, called,
 H & M Stamps.

I used my scissors to scrap the edges of the cs, which I love to do. As I am scraping, I have to sit back and slow down...it's a good thing.  I used my Prismacolor markers to color the image.

I am entering this card in some challenges (why not?)
Card Crafter's Circle - Rich Earthy Colors
Stampin' for the Weekend - Monochromatic
Charisma Cardz Challenges - Monochromatic

Thanks for stopping...now take a break!

What do You do With a Cupcake?

Well, I would eat it if I could.  This cupcake is for two DT calls. One is for Come and Get It Challenge, and the other is for Delicious Doodles.

This cupcake really looks like you could just pick it up and eat it!  I used CTMH and B&T paper, along with stamps from Crafty Secrets' Kitchen Kids Set. The sentiment is from Flourishes. I made the plate with my Coluzzle. Sewing from my Singer. Brads on sale at (of all places) Home Goods. The ribbon is my trademark CTMH black gingham. I heat embossed the fork in gold. The background yellow piece is stamped randomly with images from the Kitchen Kids set.

I love this card! I love the cupcake image, which was supplied free of charge to try out for the design team at Delicious Doodles.

I decided to enter this card in some challenges...why not?

A Proper Little Lady

This is Daisy. She is one of the newest releases at Digital Delights. There are so many lovable characters just waiting for you to bring them to life your way. As a member of the Design Team at DD, please allow me to invite you to visit our blog and see the other inspiring projects created by my teammates. We're having a blow out sale, too!

I brought Daisy to life by first, sitting her on a bench from the Daisy Accessories Set. This can be done right on Photoshop! How cool is that? One of the many perks of using digital stamps.

Next, I colored her with Prismacolor Pencils. I use pure color in my shadows, which keeps the shadows from looking dull and dark.

The paper on the card is from Michael's. The vellum is from CTMH, which I have had for literally YEARS. I used the vellum in a couple of the layers to soften the bright colors, keeping the card more vintage.

Here you can see the vellum overlay on top of the Hollyhock CS. I used a Martha Stewart corner punch here as well. The gems are from the Paper Studio. The ribbon is Offray from a trip to their outlet store many years ago.

This is a Tattered Floral Die cut flower, made with newsprint I salvaged from a trip to Epcot...Great Britain. We had Fish and Chips as we watched the fireworks show...awesome! Love this little glittery brad.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Sketch and Stash - Julie's Sketch
The Shabby Tea Room -Color Inspiration
Hooked on Craft Challenges - Let's Celebrate!
Love to Create - Sparkle
Paper Pretties - Square Cards
Tammy's Scrapin' Corner - Add Some Flowers

Sweet Inspiration

My first card as a Design Team member for Tuesday Throwdown Challenge. Our sponsor is My Grafico. To make this card I used one of the eight cupcake images from their

I used the digital image three times, and printed it on different designer papers. All of the papers for the cupcakes are CTMH...from my stash. The pretty cupcake background paper is from Michael's. I used my Singer to stitch, stitch, stitch.

The little candles are "lit" with Stickles glitter glue. The sprinkles are also done with Stickles.

I used dimensional adhesive dots to attach the cupcake "layers". The flowers are from my stash also...can't remember where they come from! Sorry...

The ribbon is my fave...CTMH black and white Gingham.

I am entering this card in several challenges:
Hooked on Crafts - Let's Celebrate!

Baby By The Sea

I found this image on Digital 2 For Tuesday. Since I am caught up with my DT work, this one is just for fun!
The colors are from a challenge, as is the layout.

Prismacolor pencils are my "go-to" medium right now. I don't use gray or black to make my shadows. I feel using color brings the image to life, and makes it more vivid. Today, when you go outside, look up at the clouds. You will notice that the shadows are not gray...they have color.

Maybe I'll do a tutorial on shadowing with color...what do you think?

Used my Vagabond and Tattered Florals Die by Tim Holtz to make these flowers. The leaves are petals from one of the florals. I fold them in half and sand to make a vein. The gem centers of the flowers are from Michael's.

I've gotta get more ribbon...black and gingham, as I am using this on EVERYTHING! I need more choices.
You would think I have no ribbon to choose from...I just need more black and gingham!

Did lots of stitching on this one. Also used a Martha Stewart punch, and a CTMH cloud stencil with chalks for the sky.

I am entering this in several challenges:

The Ribbon Reel - retro colors, plus a flower and ribbon/twine
Art With No Boundaries - The Rhythm of the Sea
Cheerful Stamp Pad -Coming Up Orange
Craft Your Passion - Anything Goes
Daisy Doodle - Outdoors
Creative Card Crew - On the Beach/Under the Sea
Crafts and Me - Use a Digi

This sentiment comes from Crafty Secrets Seaside set. I used Tim Holtz Distressed Ink in Vintage Photo to distress on this card.

Hope you enjoyed your stay today, however brief. Let me know what you think about a color shadow tutorial, OK?

Happy Fall, Briley!

Briley is from Digital Delights. I had so much fun making her hair strawberry blonde. I have been practicing my coloring technique with my Prismacolor pencils, and I must say, this looks pretty good!

I used a layout from Sketches by Carly:

I embossed the orange cs with orange embossing powder, using a large background stamp from
Stampin' Up! Then, I dry embossed the rest of the orange cs with my empressor tool and my paper trimmer. I punched out the corners, and added black gems.
Here's that beautiful Stawberry Blonde, Briley.  If you notice in the background there are some chalked leaves...I used the "stencil" left over from the punched leaves to make the chalked ones.

I gave the leaves a black shadow of cs...

I am entering this card in some challenges:
Sketches by Carly - Use a Carly sketch from the past
Cards and More - Anything Goes
Jackson's Digital Expressions - Anything Goes, optional eyelets, brads

A Flower of Blessings

This Digital Delights image is one of my favorites...so simple and versatile...and it's on special right now!
Daisy Flower

I took it the monochromatic route today, and decided to pull out a color CS and paper I haven't used in a long while...plum.

I used a sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches:

Being on the DD design team gives me the opportunity to play with Wendy's images. It stretches me. I did paper piecing, and used some inkpads and my waterbrush to color. The paper is from my CTMH stash. The ribbon is from my stash, too. The pearls are from Hobby Lobby.

I used some Stickles Glitter Glue to sparkle up the image. With the plum color I think it looks rather ~magical~

For once I didn't distress the ribbon with my heat tool. The background paper you see is from Michael's.

I am entering this card in some challenges:

Card Crafters Circle - Clean and Simple
Digital Tuesday - Monochromatic
Sassy Cheryl's - Pretty Papers
Shopping Our Stash - What Was I Thinking?
